This is a masterpiece of Chinese calligraphy, named 兰亭序 “Lanting Xu”, meaning: Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion. Lanting Xu was composed by one of the most famous calligraphy master Wang Xizhi, and it was composed in 353.
In the article, the author described a gathering of 42 literature masters at the Orchid Pavilion in Kuaiji Shanyin (near Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, in modern day), during the Spring Purification Festival to compose poems and enjoy the wine. In the gatherings, they talked about the beautiful view around them, how times flied and things changed, and human being have such a little control over living and dying.
First one, this is a famous painting call 千里江山图( qiān lǐ jiānɡ shān tú),meaning Thousands miles of Mountains and Rivers. As the name indicated, it is quite large in size, with a silk scroll measuring 51.5 centimeters in height and 1191.5 centimeters in width. On the painting, there are peaks, ridges, rivers, boats, bridges, pavilions and towers, as well as human activities, all of which are incredibly detailed.
The artist of this famous artwork was a 18 year old young man,Wang Ximeng, and it took him 6 months to finish it.He used a lot of mineral materials like azurite and malachite, which are bright in color and long lasting.
Second one, this is red one. 鸿运当头( hónɡ yùn dānɡ tóu), it’s a Chinese idiom, meaning good luck is approaching. Red is a lucky color in Chinese culture, we use a lot of red during the Chinese new year, Chinese wedding and happy event.

It’s a brief introduction of all the item in the box. The letter in written in Chinese and English, by me.
Living in modern life, we are deeply depending on mobile phones and computers, so most of the communication between people is on the phone or computer. They are all digital records. I like how convenient it is to communicate with the modern technology. But I think the connection between people should be more than that. I am a bit old fashion and I like handwriting letter because I like the unique feeling that a handwriting letter can provide. Somehow a physical handwriting letter just gives you something tangible, it builds the bridge between and sender and receiver.
So I hope a handwriting letter from me, like this, can bring a bit of joy, or just show you how the everyday Hanzi is like written by a native Chinese.
It a green carton box a lock and a handle, so it could also be a nice storage box.
